The Poles consume only 50% of electrical power of what the inhabitants of the old European Union countries do.
The countries of so-called. „old” European Union (EU-15) are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Spain, Netherlands, Ireland, Luxembourg, Germany, Portugal, Sweden, United Kingdom as well as Italy. The consumption of electricity per capita for each of these states and Poland is summarized below. The last column also shows the percentage of electricity consumption per capita in Poland in relation to each of the EU-15 countries.
|State||The final energy consumption per capita of a country [TOE/per capita]||Energy consumption in Poland in comparison to a state [%]|
When analyzing available data it is worth noting that for most of the EU-15 states electricity consumption per capita is higher than in Poland (except Portugal and Greece). It is difficult draw clear conclusion that the consumption is twice as high as in Poland because its level varies considerably (from 22.1 in Luxembourg to 121.4% in Greece).
The average value of the collected data (last column of the table) is 70.4%, which allows to say that the Poles consume an average of 70.4% „of what the inhabitants of the old European Union countries.”
